BridgeportArt Center

A historical piece never exhibited in America will be installed at the Bridgeport Art Center as a part of the launch of Chicago Artist’s Month, with an opening from 5-9pm. This sculpture, a prototype work of blue and white rotating beacons, enLIGHT on Thames, was created by John David Mooney in 1992 for Watermans Art Centre located on the River Thames. This gallery piece was part of an extensive series of sculptures, land drawings, performance and light installations titled enLIGHT and even used the Scottish Army as “Light Brigade” artists. Commissioned by the British Foreign Office and Prime Minister John Major for the enjoyment of the twelve heads of state, these works by Mooney marked the first summit of the European Union held in the United Kingdom.
