Yaryna Shumska

Artist in Residence

Yaryna Shumska is a Ukranian artist who is emerging as an important figure in the international arts community through her work with performance, installations and painting. She focuses on connecting the micro of site specific objects and local cultures to a macro imagination of the environment. Her works have been shown in exhibitions and performance art festivals in Ukraine, Poland, Check Republic, Germany, Israel, Japan, Italy, Slovakia, Norway, Thailand, and the USA. Just before arriving for her residency, she will be participating in La Rencontre internationale d'art performance de Québec in Canada. She is a graduate and current PhD student at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in Ukraine.
